Sampling

We work with you to design and implement sampling plans for pesticides, industrial organics, inorganics and heavy metals in water, air, food, house dust and as surface residues.

Water

PRI will develop a site description, determine the optimum sampling scheme to obtain statistically valid data, document the site and factors affecting transport of pesticides, industrial organics or heavy metals to the water body being sampled, and conduct the sampling. Laboratory work is sub-contracted to a certified laboratory. We provide the data in tabular and graphical form and will help you interpret the results in the context of water quality standards/criteria or toxicological standards.

Air

PRI will develop a site description, determine the optimum sampling scheme to obtain statistically valid data, document the site and factors affecting airborne transport of pesticides, industrial organics or heavy metals near the site, and conduct the sampling using either low- or high-volume or canister sampling techniques. Laboratory work is sub-contracted to a certified laboratory. For outdoor sampling, real-time weather data are collected during the sampling run at 15 minute intervals. We provide the analytical and weather data in tabular and graphical form and will help you interpret the results in the context of existing air quality standards or toxicological standards.

Food

PRI will determine the optimum sampling scheme of the food of interest to obtain statistically valid data and will handle the transport of the samples to a certified laboratory for testing. We provide the data in tabular and graphical form and will help you interpret the results in the context of legally allowable pesticide residues for the particular food (pesticide tolerances) and anticipated dose based on estimated dietary intake.

Surface Residues

PRI will assess the site and determine the optimum sampling scheme to determine the concentrations of pesticide residues on plants, yards, toys, cars, etc. that may have arisen from spray drift of a pesticide onto nearby property or inside a home that has been treated with pesticides. We document the site and factors affecting airborne transport of pesticides, industrial organics or heavy metals near the site, and conduct the sampling. Laboratory work is sub-contracted to a certified laboratory. We provide the data in tabular and graphical form and will help you interpret the results in the context of existing drift regulations.

House Dust

PRI will determine the optimum sampling scheme to obtain statistically valid data on the concentrations of pesticides in house dust, document the site and factors affecting airborne transport of pesticides, industrial organics or heavy metals near the site, and conduct the sampling using either low- or high-volume sampling techniques. Laboratory work is sub-contracted to a certified laboratory. We provide the data in tabular and graphical form and will help you interpret the results in the context of potential sources and exposures from house dust.
